OUR MISSION
We are committed to supporting families in need by fostering resiliency, self-sufficiency and family stability in our community.
OUR PASSION
For over three decades, our 501(c)(3) not-for-profit has been supporting local families in need by fostering resiliency, self-sufficiency and family stability.
Thanks to generous donors, grant funding and a volunteer only staff, we have been able to serve over 4,000 families each year through our store front, representing an average of 11,000 children annually.
Since 2020, we purchased our building and converted to solar, nearly eliminating our entire overhead. This allows us to redirect nearly 100% of every dollar donated back into our client programs.
MHM works directly with other local charities and agencies. By sharing services, our hope is to work together to lighten the burden for struggling families in our community.

Mothers Helping Mothers is an all volunteer, not-for-profit organization that provides basic necessities such as clothing for your entire family and baby items (including cribs, car seats, strollers, formula, breast pumps and more), free of charge to families in Sarasota, Manatee and surrounding counties.
OUR BIRTH STORY
It's hard to believe more than 30 years have passed since we assisted our very first family! We started as a few friends wanting to help two single mothers living in the Salvation Army Lodge, back in November of 1990. After that was done in a few days, we said "who else needs help?" We asked some friends and neighbors if they had items they no longer needed, sorting donated items in garages, front porches and storage sheds before we rented our first storefront location. Word of mouth spread in the community, and we continued to grow while working with other agencies to help families in need.
Today, we have expanded into owning a 7500 square foot building, and currently have an outreach to other local communities, bringing the "store" to them with our bus filled with sorted donated items with "pop up" events. We grew out of necessity, and that handful of volunteers has grown into an amazing dedicated force of "worker bees", still running on spirit, energy, and the desire to make a difference, one client at a time.
30 years later, we are still 100% volunteer, and we continually attempt to minimize our overhead through grant funding and private contributions, having our resources more readily available forstruggling families. With these times being more difficult than ever, we remain grateful for our community's continued support, while they understand the uniqueness of Mothers Helping Mothers, knowing their contributions will go directly to benefit families right here in our own backyard. Literally thousands of families have received clothing, new baby items purchased through grant funding, school supplies, household items, toys, and emergency financial assistance. We've been able to continue to do what we do, thanks to YOU!
